Hello!!
We celebrated at school 8th March Day- Women´s Day. So that, we worked the biography of someones important women in the history.
Teachers established these Learning Objectives with this activity:
- To know important women in the history
- To read and understand an English text
- To collaborate in group
- To do a timeline through the text
- To use Timetoast correctly.
The advantages of use TimeToast are multiple:
- Students have to collaborate so that they reinforce metacognitive strategies – planning, self-regulation and self and co-evaluation.
- The motivation of the learners was very high.
- They improve their digital competences.
- They love work with laptops, so that they put more attention in the activity.
In order to set up the activity, first we made the groups, in this case we choose heterogenous groups of 4 pupils. Then, we gave them the comprehension reading sheet, and we explained them that they had to read it, first loud; then, they had to read aloud, one paragraph each child;after of this, they must to underline the important facts and dates of the woman life. They answered some questions about the reading.
After of this, students took their laptops and we explained, in the digital board, how to use TimeToast, and we did one timeline together.
In groups, they did their timeline in TimeToast.
How is normal, there were some problems with the laptops (batteries), someone didn´t understand what they had to do... There wasn´t important problems.
Learners were very motivating with the activity, the digital activity obvious. They wanted to do more timelines.
That day we didn´t have specialities, so that we had time to do the activity. The problem will be if we would not have had so much time. In a normal class( 1 hour), we would not have finished the activity. We have to programme the use of Timetoast according with the time of the class.
The use of TimeToast helped us to achieve our leaning objectives because the students had to work in a collaborative way; they knew some important women and the facts why they were important; they learnt to do a timeline in a playful way, this is very important.
Here you have some of that timelines:

ResponderEliminarThis sounds like a fantastic and engaging activity for celebrating International Women's Day! Your clear articulation of the learning objectives demonstrates thoughtful planning, and it's evident that the activity successfully targeted multiple skills, from reading comprehension to collaboration and digital competence.
ResponderEliminarIt's great to hear that the students were highly motivated and engaged throughout the activity. Incorporating laptops and digital tools like TimeToast not only enhances their digital competencies but also captures their interest and attention, making the learning experience more enjoyable and meaningful.
While it's wonderful that the activity was so engaging, the issue of time management is worth considering. In a typical one-hour class, it's essential to ensure that activities are appropriately paced to fit within the allocated time. Perhaps setting specific time limits for each stage of the activity or breaking it into smaller segments could help manage time more effectively.
Overall, your blog post highlights an innovative and engaging approach to celebrating Women's Day while also achieving important learning objectives. With some adjustments to time management and consideration for technical and learning differences, this activity has the potential to become even more impactful in promoting both historical awareness and essential skills among students. Keep up the great work!
